LEARN WITH US: ORGAN DONATION AND TRANSPLANT
Every day, about 12 people die in the United States, waiting for an organ transplant. Black Americans are disproportionately affected by the need for organ transplants, accounting for approximately 27% of people on the U.S. transplant waiting list despite representing about 14% of the population. This disparity reflects, in part, a higher burden of chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, which can lead to premature organ failure.
Join us November 10th to learn more about local needs and resources around organ health and donation that can help improve outcomes and save lives. We'll break down myths; share data; offer a panel discussion with a living donor, a transplant recipient, and a donor family; and more. Doors open at 5:15 PM for dinner and a vendor resource center, including free APO1 genetic testing. Programming begins at 6 PM sharp.
